Upgrade Paths for Microsoft Vista from Previous Versions

upgrading your current PC to Microsoft Vista, it's important to understand your upgrade options. Your choices depend on the version of Windows that is currently running on your PC and the type of computer hardware you have to run certain features.

You can upgrade from your current edition of Microsoft Windows XP or Windows 2000 to a corresponding or better edition of Windows Vista by purchasing and installing an upgrade copy of Windows Vista. If you're upgrading multiple PCs in a household, you can save time and money with the Windows Vista Family Discount.

With Windows Vista, users will not be able to use upgrade keys to initiate completely new installations. Upgrade versions of Windows Vista Home Basic, Premium, and Starter Edition will not install on any PC unless Windows XP or Windows 2000 is already on the machine in question.

Ubuntu-Linux for human beings

If you have been thinking about what the Linux operating system is all about, and you have an itch for everything that is free. Then you should check out Ubuntu Linux. The Linux operating system was developed over time by a community of programmers that believe that software should be FREE.

Ubuntu is the latest Destro (distribution) of the Linux operating system, and it is by far the most user friendly of all the Linux distributions to date. the beauty of this version of Linux apart from being able to be installed on a hard drive, is you also can get a copy of the operating system that boots of the CD, you do not have to install the operating system in place of the one you are using. Try it out first!!

The best part is you can carry a bootable CD copy of the operating system and run it on any computer without affecting the information on that computer's hard drive. you can back up all the files for the Linux OS on a thumb drive, which can also be used for all the swap files that the operating system needs. Ubuntu Linux welcome to the world of free software!!!

IS PC GAMING ON THE DECLINE

With the advent of the gaming console, and the battle royal between the big three combatants. The Microsoft Xbox 360, the Nintendo Wii, and Sony's play station 3. All the attention has been stolen away from the platform that started gaming off. The steady and ever powerful PC.

In my humble opinion Microsoft has a very big lead when it comes to the console wars, with 10 million consoles sold and a stack of great games to choose from. the Xbox 360 is a clear front runner, and now "Gears of Wars" has recently been released, in six month the game has sold a whopping one million copies. TAKE THAT SONY !!!

SONY WHO ?? the PS3 is still to appear in any great number on the world market. With a price point to chock a horse, with a price so high brought about by the inclusion of the blue-ray DVD player we have to have. Sony is planing to win the gaming console war and the DVD format war with one mighty unit. TOO BAD ONLY A FEW CAN AFFORD IT !!!!!

Last but (not by a long shot) least is the truly mighty Nintendo Wii. It is a gaming console for those who want to have good old family fun. It brings the family and friends together for some good innovative gaming brilliance. Nintendo has built a gaming system that invites the non-gamer to have a go. AND THEY CAN NOT RESIST.

It is so user friendly with it's new and innovative controller that grandmothers and grandfathers are participating in a world that once was dominated by the young and the geeky. Know the Wii is here to break all boundaries of age and interests to bring whole generations together.

Maybe it is the natural progress of technology for the gaming world to move slightly away from the dominance of the good old PC platform. the PC platform is not dead by a long shot but consoles like the Wii and Xbox are giving the PC a good run for it's money.
OH YES THE PS3 TOO IF YOU CAN AFFORD IT.

New Opera browser for the Wii

Nintendo and Norwegian software company Opera has released a web browser for the Wii console, based on the Opera 9 for Devices evaluation kit. The browser is available for free until mid-2007 and can be used in combination with the Wii remote.

Wii owners can use the Opera browser similar to the way you could direct the mouse pointer with a 3D mouse. Wii users can simply point the remote at an object on the page and zoom in on that object with the "+" button. Once zoomed in, the Wii Remote allows you to pan around the page while remaining in zoom mode. Scrolling and selecting bookmarks works in a similar way. Input of URLs or form content is done via a on-screen keyboard and predictive text feature to auto-complete words and URLs.

Opera supports dynamic websites, including Flash and AJAX enabled destinations. The Wii browser is available as a free "trial" download until June 30, 2007. After that, Nintendo will be offering the software via the Wii Shop Channel for 500 Wii points.
